As many of you may know, our Donation Center contacts households throughout the Greater Victoria Area to solicit donations of gently used clothing, and other household items. While this allows us to support youth through these tough economic times, we are still faced with the challenging question of “how can we do more?”
After much discussion with our staff and volunteers, we are thrilled to announce that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria and Area is making some BIG changes to our call center. We are now piloting a new system that sees dialing and reporting handled electronically, allowing us to devote more time to calling. It’s important to know that we are not automating our call center; you’ll still be speaking with a live representative working out of our Victoria Call Center. There won’t be a machine on the other end, nothing has been outsourced, and we’ll still be just a phone call away.
By going “digital”, we will allow our call center to grow to new heights. With more time to call, we will be able to develop new routes, solicit more donations, and create new opportunities for collections. This also allows us to reduce the administrative workload on our staff, creating new efficiencies that will meet our needs for growth without increasing labor costs.
As always, this transition could not have happened without the amazing support of our donors and volunteers. Particularly, we would like to thank the wonderful staff at Best Buy Langford for providing us with much of the equipment necessary. Best Buy has been a partner of our organization since the opening of their first store in Victoria, and continues to share our belief in the value of supporting youth.
