About the 2009 Big Give Back Challenge
The Big Give Back is a community fundraising challenge that invites you to support Mentoring Programs for children and youth at-risk in Greater Victoria. Teams, made up of family members, friends, colleagues, or corporate partners set a fundraising goal (anything between $1 and $10,000) and set about either collecting donations or planning and hosting an event or activity. You decide how and when you want to donate, participate, or volunteer.
The Big Give Back Story
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria has been hosting individual fundraising events in support of mentoring programs for children and youth for more than 30 years. While these events have generated much-needed resources, people often ask, ‘Can you host a gala dinner…a 50Km walk…a date night…a garage sale?’
The truth is that we really want you to be involved in something that you really love to do. So, we thought we’d invite you to join the Big Give Back Challenge, a team-led and hosted event or activity dedicated to the mentors in each of our lives who have made a positive difference.
Team Captains work with team members, plan an activity or event, and seek and collect pledges or donations. Teams may vary in size from 1 to 20 members. Team activities can take an hour, an afternoon, a day, or longer to complete - you choose the activity, you choose the time and day that suite you!
Big Brothers Big Sisters staff will support teams and provide fundraising ideas, information, pledge sheets, brochures, challenge updates, and mentoring stories to share with team members and supporters.
Go Girls! Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds Mentoring Programs
We have asked you to join the Big Give Back Challenge for a reason. In September 2009, we plan to introduce Go Girls! Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds Mentoring Programs into middle schools. With your help, we can raise $30,000 to help make this dream a reality.
