How can your organization or business partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria and really make an impact? Consider the following options:
- Donate time, in-kind gifts or services, resources, or human capital to support Mentoring Programs
- Make BBBS Victoria your Charity of Choice for a one-time corporate event or for a fixed term such as a year
- Invite a member of the BBBS Victoria Speakers Bureau to your organization for an inspirational talk about the power of mentorship
- Enter into a co-promotional opportunity or sponsor a community event such as Chocolate Fest or the Big Give Back Challenge
Partnership is key, not only because it raises much needed dollars to support mentorship programs, but because it connects people and ideas, bridges communities, builds awareness and capacity, and provides opportunities for volunteerism, community engagement, mentorship, and leadership.
Mentorship programs cost as little as $1000 a year, and while the financial returns on an investment in mentorship are significant – every $1 invested in prevention programs saves $7 in restorative costs – the real returns are found in children who have built self-esteem and resiliency and learned new models for decision-making, and when the power of mentorship builds capacity in lives, and in our community.
If your organization wants to make a difference then consider the following sponsorship opportunities:
In-School Mentoring
Each year Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria provides In-School Mentorship Programs to six elementary and secondary schools. Mentorship activities take place on school property and in school time and BBBS Victoria provides learning materials to mentors and children and hosts activities for matches to showcase their successes. How can you help support these successes? Sponsor a child, or an In-School Mentorship Program
Community Matches
Every week parents, teachers, and child advocates call BBBS Victoria to find a mentor for a child in need, and each week we have to place children on a waiting list until the right mentor can be found.
The right mentor is you, a friend or family member, an employee or colleague. Mentors need to be found, recruited, trained, and supported throughout the duration of a mentorship match with a child. With as little as $1000 a-year you can make a mentorship match happen and change the life of a child.
Teen Matches
Teen mentoring programs exist in partnership with local schools and with individual teens in the community who have been identified as positive teen role-models. This exciting program offers an opportunity to enhance leadership skills, citizenship, and volunteerism in a youth while supporting the needs of a child – essentially your dollars are leveraged to support two individuals who benefit from a mentorship match.
Sponsor an Agency Event
Each year BBBS Victoria brings together volunteers, mentors, children and their families, and our donors and stakeholders to say thank you for their many contributions and to celebrate our time together.
If you would like to support a volunteer recognition event for our mentors, add fun and festivity to our families and mentors Christmas party or summer picnic, or add your name to our list of sponsors for our Annual General Meeting please let us know.
Sponsorship takes many forms from the gift of time, to the donation of cash, goods, or services. You decide what works best for you or your organization.
