Focus Mentoring

Focus mentoring is a program for children and youth who have been referred to Big Brothers Big Sisters because they need additional and sustained support in their lives to help manage and overcome significant challenges.

As an extension to our Community Mentoring Programs, Focus Mentoring increases supports to children and families who live with the negative stigma of mental illness, chronic health conditions, addiction, incarceration, and challenges related to culture including new immigrants and aboriginal families.

Children are matched in a one-to-one relationship with a mentor who meets them weekly for 2-4 hours. Mentors and families are supported through parent education, referrals and specific training which supports matches in building a strong, supportive relationship.
